Sex-Reassignment Surgeries For Trans Increases In Kerala, Says Data

As per records from Kerala's social-justice department, the number of sex-reassignment surgeries conducted for male-to-female transition outnumbers those performed for female-to-male transition. The figures also reveal that the number of such procedures has been increasing over time. There are 127 trans-women and 64 trans-males among the 191 transgender persons who got support in 2018. However, the social-justice department reimburses trans-women Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh to trans-men.
