Shikhar Dhawan Plays 'Gabbar' Knock As Delhi Capitals Beat Punjab Kings

A scintillating knock of Shikhar Dhawan, scoring 92 runs off just 49 deliveries, brought a comprehensive victory to the Delhi Capitals over Punjab Kings. Pocketing the toss-coin, Capitals' skipper Rishabh Pant opted to chase, a decision that is quite frequent this season. However, Kings' top order did not seem intimidated due to toss-loss, rather they played to the hilt to score handsomely, especially in the opening powerplay. With skipper KL Rahul's 51-ball 61-runs and Mayank Agarwal's quickfire of 69 runs in just 36 deliveries, Kings scored 195 runs in 20 overs. Coursing the above-par target, Capitals' inning started on a ballistic pathway, thanks to Shikhar Dhawan's 'Gabbar' Knock and short-but-handy inning of Prithvi Shaw (32 off 17 balls). DC batsmen, throughout the match, maintained the run rate in control and a fiery cameo of Marcus Stoinis helped the team to register a solid six-wicket win over Kings. After this inning, Shikhar Dhawan has become the orange cap holder in the IPL 2021. He has posted 186 runs in the 3 matches played till now.
