Sri Lanka Relaxes 6 Week Lockdown After Drop In Covid-19 Cases
Sri Lanka removed a six-week lockdown on October 1 as Covid-19 cases and fatalities decreased. Due to a spike in cases caused by the increasing number of delta-variant, the lockdown enforced on August 20 was prolonged three times. In recent months, government has increased vaccination efforts, with more than half of 22 million individuals completely vaccinated. However, restrictions remain for public-transport, weddings, funerals, and public-gatherings.
