Surat Court Acquits 122 People Accused As Terror Outfit SIMI Members
Around 122 people, who were accused of being members of the banned outfit 'Student's Islamic Movement of India' (SIMI), were acquitted by a Surat court on March 6. Charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Magistrate acquitted them giving the accused a benefit of the doubt. Besides, the Magistrate opined the prosecution failed to produce "satisfactory" evidence. The members who were accused of attending a SIMI gathering also denied the allegations.
