Switzerland Green Activists Shed Light on the Melting of Trient Glacier
Over 200 eco-activists on September 6 gathered at Switzerland's Trient glacier to create awareness about melting of glaciers in the Alps region. The gathering happened a day prior to the Swiss Parliament's deliberation on curbing CO2 emissions. Activists expressed concerns over the rate at which glaciers were melting for the past 30-40 years. Trient alone receded by over 1Km. The activists demanded CO2 emissions should be lowered 60% by 2030.
