Teachers Face Cyber Bullying Over Online Classes
As the pandemic hit the world, schools and colleges were shut and had no other option but to rely on online classes. Though online classes were meant to be easier for teachers and students alike, they have turned into a nightmare for teachers as several of them face Cyber-Bullying every day. Students join the lectures through fake IDs in order to upload mischievous posts, harass and abuse the teachers, use 'slangs' of all sorts and at times even threaten them.
These cases are mostly faced by senior teachers who struggle to adapt to these new methods of teaching. "It is really demotivating and demeaning for the teachers as it disturbs the environment of study we work hard on creating. Students should understand not all of us are 'tech-savy' and that we need to help each other in these times," said Riya Mukhopadhay, a teacher of journalism at Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT).
