Telegram Gains From WhatsApp Row, Logs 500 Million Active Users

Messaging service provider Telegram has touched 500-million active users mark after 25 million new users downloaded the app in last 72 hours, confirmed its founder Pavel Durov. Benefitting from the row over WhatsApp's policy changes, Telegram recorded 38% new users from Asia, besides Europe (27%), Latin America (21%) and Middle East and North Africa (8%). Meanwhile, Durov is planning to monetise the platform with premium features and channel ads, assuring private chats to be ad-free.
