Texas Court Awards 20-Year Jail To Indian National For Cheating US Citizens
Ahmedabad-based Hitesh Madhubhai Patel was sentenced 20-years imprisonment by a Texas court after being found guilty of defrauding U.S citizens. The 44-year-old, who ran call centers, duped and threatened Americans during 2013-16. Reportedly, Patel's employee posed as IRS officers or US Citizenship and Immigration officers and threatened the victims of imprisonment, fines or deportation to extract money. Charging Patel for wire fraud and laundering, the court ordered him to indemnify the victims with $8,970,396.
