Tobi Amusan of Nigeria broke the women's 100m hurdles world record with a sensational performance in the semi-finals of the World Athletics Championships in Oregon on July 24. After smashing the global record, the 25-year-old athlete went on to win gold in the finals. The Nigerian set a new world record of 12.12 seconds, surpassing the previous mark of 12.20 seconds by 0.08 seconds.
