Train With Farmers Skips Delhi; Officials Cite Operational Constraints
In an unusual development, Punjab Mail bearing 1000 protesting farmers had been diverted from its conventional route on February 1. Veering from Rohtak, the Ferozpur-Mumbai train traversed through Rewari in Haryana and continued westwards to reach its concluding destination. Allegedly, the redirection was to circumvent the farmers from arriving at the protest sites in Delhi. However, dousing speculations, the railway officials cited “operational constraints” as the rationale behind the anomaly.
