Twitter India Deactivates 709 Accounts Over Hate Mongering
Twitter India has deactivated handles of 709 users after the Centre reported the accounts for sharing inflammatory content. Twitter revealed that 126 handles used #ModiPlanningFarmerGenocide in their posts, and 583 other accounts were disabled for their suspicious alignment with Khalistan or Pakistan and spreading abusive and provocative content. Earlier, the Centre had issued notice to Twitter under section 69A[3] of the IT Act, which provisions seven years of imprisonment and financial penalties for senior officials.
