US Drug Companies To Pay Billions In Historical Opioids Settlement
A group of 15 US state attorneys general negotiated a settlement deal from large drug companies for $26 billion for allegedly distributing addictive drugs and opioids. The deal became the second-largest cash settlement ever, after the $246 billion tobacco agreement in 1998. Under the deal, the three largest US drug distributors, McKesson Corp, Cardinal Health Inc, and AmerisourceBergen Corp would pay a combined $21bn, while Johnson & Johnson, would pay $5bn.
