US Elections: Democrats Get Hold Of White House As Joe Biden Clears Majority

In the US presidential elections, Democratic Party's candidate Joe Biden has crossed the majority mark of 270 electoral votes and was declared as the President-elect by the Associated Press. Biden clinched 290 electoral votes in the counting that oscillated for the last four days. According to the Associated Press, Biden secured 50.6% of the total votes polled which amounted to 7,48,61,262 votes from the US citizens. His opponent and the POTUS Donald Trump could garner only 47.7% of votes (7,06,00,513 votes). The Associated Press called Biden winner after he sealed 20 important electoral votes from his home-state Pennsylvania. With this, Democratic Party's Kamala Harris has also become the first black woman Vice-President-elect of the country. After the announcements of results, Biden tweeted, "I will be a President for all Americans - whether you voted for me or not." However, Trump has not accepted the defeat yet and accused fraudulence in counting. Interestingly, Trump's tweets were marked "misleading" by Twitter.
