Uttar Pradesh: Varanasi Opens First Transgender Toilets

Under the Smart City project, Varanasi Mayor Mridula Jaiswal inaugurated the first transgender toilet in Uttar Pradesh. Assuring that the government is willing to do more for the community, Mridula said, "We will build more wherever they are required." The project was started to encourage the participation of the transgender community in maintaining the cleanliness of the city. A community member stated that they had faced a lot of difficulties but are contented now.
