Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Rawat Resigns; Dhan Singh Rawat Frontrunner
Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned from his post on March 9 under the BJP's course-correction in the hill state. Rawat had been facing the BJP leadership frequently as flack against his substandard performance kept increasing, especially over the poor management of the Chamoli flash floods. Speculations over leadership change further escalated, following an assessment by two central party observers. Reportedly, MLA Dhan Singh Rawat is the frontrunner for the Chief Ministerial position.
