Uttarakhand Starts Villages' Relocation; Entire Project Needs Rs 10,000 Cr
For the 385-village relocation project planned in 2017 by the Uttarakhand government, work for 5 villages have been started following the government's Rs 2.38-crore fund allocation on February 11. The five villages are from the Tehri, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Bageshwar districts. Reportedly, in 2017, the cost of the exercise was pegged at around Rs 10,000 crore. The project aims to relocate the villages from disaster-prone areas to safer locations.
