UP Village Emerges With Unique Method To Avoid Election Conflicts

Keeping the unsatisfying election candidates in mind, elders of Aurandh village in Mainpuri District of UP devised a method of internal polls for gram panchayat election, conducted on January 4. Reportedly, a seven-member committee was set up for the internal voting and three candidates preferred by all were selected. As per the villagers, this method to select the panchayat head also averts political rivalries, "once sparked during the polls, continues for generations".
