"We are Committed To Your Privacy": WhatsApp Tells Users Via Its Status
Making an effort to ensure that the doubts regarding privacy breaches are cleared, WhatsApp reached out to its users through its application on January 17. Sending status updates, WhatsApp emphasized on the privacy of its users saying, "We are committed to your privacy." Additionally, highlighting that the chats are end-to-end encrypted, the Facebook-owned platform said that it cannot hear or listen to the personal conversations of its users. Even the app does not have access to see the locations shared by the users either, WhatsApp added. Besides, the application also cleared that it does not share the contacts of its users with Facebook. The explanation came following the popular messaging app faced backlash after updating its privacy policies. Earlier on January 16, WhatsApp also pushed its new update roll out by three months to May 15, 2021.
