Tuatara Beats Koenigsegg Agera to Become World's Fastest Car

SSC's 'Tuatara' became the world's fastest car with a maximum speed of 532.93 km/h. Officials confirmed that it broke the previous record of 447.23 km/h set by Koenigsegg Agera in 2017. Driven by British racer Oliver Webb, the car set an average speed of 508.73km/h in its two runs on an 11-km road. SSC CEO Jerold Shelby said, “We came pretty close to meeting the theoretical numbers, which is astonishing.”

Amid COVID Scare, Uber Rolls Out Rider Mask Verification Selfie Feature

Uber on October 19 introduced a new mask-verification selfie feature in India to make the rides safer. Under this feature, the drivers, who have been mentioned for not wearing a mask for a previous trip, have to put out a selfie that shows them wearing a mask to book their next trip. In May 2020, Uber had designed a similar feature for drivers in India for raising the safety bar.

Tata Motors Increase the Price of Nexon's Advance Variants

Tata Motor has increased the price of two variants of its electric vehicle Nexon SUV by Rs 26,000. Nexon's XZ+ and XZ+ Lux go for sale with an increased price of Rs 15.25 lakh and 16.25 lakh respectively. However, its base variant XM's price is unchanged at Rs 13.99 lakh. Moreover, the company is offering a subscription scheme at Rs 34,900 to make the vehicle more accessible.

First Batch of Toyota Urban Cruiser Dispatched, Deliveries to Begin Soon

The car comes with a superior warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh km. Other features include, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment display, dual front airbags, and more.

Yamaha Launches Bluetooth-enabled FZS Dark Knight At Rs 1.07 Lakh

Yamaha has introduced FZS Dark Knight edition with Bluetooth connectivity in India. The Bluetooth powered motorcycle is priced at Rs 1.07 lakh. The new Bluetooth feature offers access to the bike's travel history, including parking, through an app. Besides, it helps to lock the bike, locate it and switch on all the lights to warn other riders as well. Reportedly, the Bluetooth feature can be added to other FZ series' bikes too.

Ford Motor Postpones Manufacturing Of Escape SUV To 2021

Ford Motor Company on October 13 officially confirmed the postponement of the manufacturing of 'plug-in Escape PHEV SUV' to 2021. The Bloomberg News has reported that the automaker's Europe wing has recalled about 20,500 Kuga plug-in hybrid SUVs after seven of them caught fire while charging. Earlier, Ford had planned the Escape PHEV's production for spring but pushed it to the summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elon Musk: Process To Bring Tesla Cars To India Will Begin In Jan 2021

Tesla on October 12 confirmed that it will begin process from January 2021 regarding opening of its Indian wing. Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted, "Will release order configurator probably in Jan." Since 2018, Musk has been revealing information about entering India but he cited Foreign Direct Investment regulations as a reason for delay. However, whether Tesla will open just retail units or manufacturing as well is not clear yet.

Nissan to Launch Magnite On October 21; Eyes India's Compact SUV Segment

Nissan has announced that its SUV 'Magnite' will be launched on October 21. Reportedly, 'Magnite' aims at India's sub-compact SUV segment, and will vie against the likes of Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue among others. The compact SUV will sport a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that may produce upto 99 bhp. Besides, the cabin is quite likely to spacious as it was already indicated by the vehicles' concept version.
