SC Refers Same Sex Marriage To 5 Bench
Supreme Court reviewed the sam sex marriage issue, and referred all the pleas on same-sex marriage to a five-judge Constitution Bench. The case will be heard on April 18, confirmed sources. On March 13, a bunch of applications had been filed before Supreme Court which sought legal sanction for same-sex marriages. This is a developing story, more details are awaited.

Money Laundering Laws Applies To Crypto Trading: GoI
In a setback to Indian bitcoin traders, India’s money laundering laws will now apply to trade in cryptocurrencies, said the federal government. In a notification dated March 7, the Government of India said, "The exchange between virtual digital assets and fiat currencies, the exchange between one or more forms of virtual digital assets and the transfer of digital assets will be covered under money laundering laws."

ED To Visit Tihar Jail And Question Manish Sisodia In Delhi Liquor Policy Scam
After the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also scheduled to question Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy CM of Delhi and AAP leader. On March 7, the ED officials are going to visit Tihar Jail, in Delhi to interrogate Sisodia, in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam. Notably, the Delhi court extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, prime accused in the scam, till March 20.

Supreme Court Acquits Man In Marital Rape Allegation
In a relied to husband, the Supreme Court acquitted a man alleged of 'rape' for having sex with a minor wife. On March 6, the Top Court acquitted man, relying on Exception 2 to section 375 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.) As per the IPC section, marital rape is exempted if the wife is above 15 years old. A bench of Justice BR Gavai and Sanjay Karol took decision.

Remand Of Manish Sisodia Extended Till March 6 : Delhi Liquor Scam
The judicial custody of former Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia has been extended till March 6. The judicial custody to the CBI was remanded in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam, which is being investigated by the CBI. Sisodia, who is the prime accused into the matter was arrested on February 28, following which he was remanded till March 4. Today, Delhi HC granted an extension to custody.

CBI To Produce Manish Sisodia Before Delhi HC In Liquor Scam
Former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia will be produced before the Delhi High Court, on March 4. He will be produced in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy scam, in which the CBI would demand an extension of Sisodia's judicial custody. Notably, a special CBI court remanded the AAP leader, the prime accused in the Delhi Liquor Scam. The court proceedings will begin at 2:00 pm, confirmed sources.

Manish Sisodia Moves Delhi HC In Delhi Liquor Policy Scam
After the Supreme Court rejected the petition of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, the AAP leader moved the Delhi High Court. Filed on March 3, Sisodia sought relief from arrest and CBI investigation in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam. Notably, Sisodia has been arrested by the CBI and has been remanded till March 5, after being named as the prime accused in the 2021-2022 Delhi Liquor Policy Scam.

Lawyers With 10 Years Experience Are Eligible For Consumer Commissioner Post: SC
In good news for lawyers with bachelor's degrees, the Supreme Court (SC) paved way for them to be appointed as consumer commissioners. With this, lawyers who have an experience of 10 years are eligible for appointment as President and members of State and District Consumer Commissions. Judgement came on March 3, upholding the Bombay HC verdict, of quashing the rule, saying 20 years of experience needed for the appointment.
