India Begins To Lay Groundwork For 5G Spectrum Auctions

India has started to lay the groundwork for the 5G spectrum auctions which is scheduled for later this year. The 5G mobile services, which will reportedly be rolled out within 2022-23, is expected to contribute at least $450 billion to the Indian economy. It is also expected to create various job opportunities across the country. According to union minister Vaishnaw, the 5G will be rolled out in August or September.

Jio 5G Speed Test Results Leaked; Download, Upload Speed & More

The 5G network will be available by late 2022. Jio has stated that they have planned out the 5G coverage for 1000 top cities in the country. According to a leaked screenshot shared by 91Mobiles, Jio 5G which is at the testing stage, hit a download speed of 420 Mbps and an upload speed of 414 Mbps. With that speed, a two hour-long video can be downloaded in minutes.

Centre Says BSNL To Complete Its 4G Roll-out In Next 18-24 Months

The Centre on March 17 stated that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will be completing the roll out of its 4G services in next 18-24 months. J&K: 4G Internet Services to be Restored on Trial Basis in 2 Districts

The Centre, represented by Attorney General KK Venugopal informed the bench of SC, headed by Justice NV Ramana, on restoring 4G internet service after August 15, on the trial basis in two districts of Jammu and Kashmir which have low intensity of terrorist activities. Government will review the situation after two months. However, the services will remain suspended in areas near the Line of Control.

SC Asks Government to Take Final Decision Over 4G Services in Kashmir

The Supreme Court on August 7 asked the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir administration to chalk out a plan for restoration of 4G internet services in Kashmir sooner. A bench comprising of Justices N V Ramana, R S Reddy and B R Gavai told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to avoid any delay in taking decision regarding this matter. The 4G internet services in Kashmir are suspended since August 2019.
