Delhi HC Dismisses Plea Seeking Financial Aid To Newly Enrolled Advocates

The High Court of Delhi dismissed a plea seeking financial assistance to newly enrolled advocates, on August 22. The petitioner had requested for a financial assistance of Rs 5,000 from the court, during initial years of practice. The petitioner also claimed that there are no rules for the allotment of chambers, and no equal opportunity to a young and passionate advocate.

SC Refuses To Hear Hijab Appeal; Lawyer Says Urgent

The Supreme Court on March 16 refused to look into hijab appeal against Karnataka HC ruling and stated that the issue will be listed after Holi celebrations. However senior advocate Sanjay Hegde stated that the matter must be heared immediately as the exams are approaching. Moreover, Hegde added that several female students will be affected by the high court's order if the issue is not looked into immediately.

Visually Impaired Advocate Protest, Demands Disability Law In J&K

A visually impaired advocate from Jammu & Kashmir has been protesting, demanding to implement disability laws in UT. Advocate Suraj Singh, has been practicing law from 2011 in the Jammu wing of the J&K HC. He said that he has "been harassed through their adopting a lackadaisical approach in implementing the RPWD act" and has been harassed. He will continue the protest until the law for disabled are implemented.

Hyderabad Advocate Files Petition To Stop 'Numaish' Amid Omicron Threat

In view of COVID-19's new variant Omicron, a Hyderabad based lawyer Khaja Aijazuddin filed a petition, urging to stop All India Industrial Exhibition (Numaish), an annual fair of Hyderabad. He urged the TRS Government and concerned officials to not approve the exhibition, which will have gathering of more than thousand people. Notably, if denied by the Government, this will be second consecutive year of Numaish's cancellation.

Delhi-based Advocate's Nord 2 5G Explodes; Plans To Sue OnePlus

Gaurav Gulati, a Delhi-based advocate, alleged on Twitter that his OnePlus Nord 2 5G exploded in his office on September 8. Reportedly, He's carrying the phone in his gown's pocket and threw it after he felt the heat. Gulati also said, ''It's like you're carrying a bomb after spending Rs 30,000-35,000.'' Meanwhile, Gulati decided to sue OnePlus, while the company said he didn't let it ''perform a proper diagnosis''.
