Taliban Imposes Ban On All Political Parties In Afghanistan

Citing Sharias Law, the Taliban in Afghanistan has imposed a complete ban on political parties in the region. Interim Minister for Justice, Sha­ikh Maulavi Abdul Hak­eem Sharae said there was a complete ban on activities of political parties in Afghanistan. On August 17, the statement demonstrates that the Afghan Taliban may continue to monopolise power as a movement and have no intention of allowing political plurality in the country.

Bangladesh & Afghanistan Back Out From Hybrid Model Asia Cup

After Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan also backed out of their proposed ‘Hybrid Model’, hosts Pakistan may pull out of the Asia Cup 2023 in September. As per ‘Hybrid Model’ proposed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi, Pakistan were to conduct 3 to 4 games of the Asia Cup in their country, while the rest of the matches involving India could be held at a neutral venue.

Bomb Goes Off Inside Mosque At Interior Ministry In Afghanistan’s Kabul; 2 Dead

A bomb went off inside a mosque of the interior department of Afghanistan’s Kabul, on October 5. The suicide bombing attack was carried out at the centre of Taliban power, settling off a blast at a government ministry building. The incident reportedly left two persons dead. Notably, the interior ministry is responsible for security and law enforcement in the country.

Suicide Bombing Strikes Education Centre In Afghanistan’s Shiite Area; At Least 19 Dead

A suicide bombing attack was carried out in Afghanistan’s Kabul, at an education centre on September 30. The explosion took place in the Dashti Barchi neighbourhood, which is mostly populated by Shiite community members. The incident reportedly killed 19 persons and left 27 others injured. This is considered to be the deadliest attack in Afghanistan, since the bomb blast at a mosque in western Herat province earlier this month.

Taliban Force Fire Shots Into Air To Disperse Women’s Anti-Hijab Protest Outside Iranian Embassy In Kabul

To disperse women’s rally amid the anti-hijab protests in Afghanistan, the Taliban forces fired shots into the air. This has come as around 25 Afghan women protested outside the Iranian embassy in Kabul. The officials also snatched the banners from the women and reportedly tore them. Protests have broken out in several parts of the world including Afghanistan, following the custodial death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in Iran.

Earthquake Of Magnitude 4.3 Jolts Afghanistan Region

An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 jolted Afghanistan on September 23, confirmed to the National Centre for Seismology. The earthquake occurred in Hindu Kush Region around 5:30 AM, on September 23 morning, in Afghanistan. This is the second such earthquake happened in the past 20 days. Earlier, on September 5, an earthquake of 5.3 magnitudes on the Richter scale hit Afghanistan, killing six people and leaving as many as nine injured.

Accidental Grenade Blast Kills 1, Leaves 4 Injured: Afghanistan

In Afghanistan’s northern province of Faryab, a grenade that belonged to the Taliban exploded, killing one person and leaving four others including women and children injured. The incident occurred in Faryab’s capital city of Maimana, and two persons have been detained in connection to the explosion. According to the Taliban government, the hand grenade was accidentally thrown, and was not a plotted crime. Further details are awaited.

As per reports, China has made strategic investments of at least USD 60 billion.
