The Odisha government on January 11, raised the upper age limit from 32 to 38 years for recruitment into state government jobs. "For SC/ST/SEBC and women, the age limit is 43 years, for General persons with disabilities is 48 years and for SC/ST/SEBC PwD candidates is 53 years," the government said. The relaxation in the upper age limits will be made during the calendar year i.e. 2021, 2022, and 2023.
The Ministry of Women and Child development denied the Parliamentary panel's recommendation to reduce the age limit to 16 years from 18 years for juveniles involved in serious crimes under the "Protection of Children from Sexual offenses act". The ministry believes the existing law "Juvenile act 2015" is adequate to address the juveniles. "We do not desire to pursue the matter", the ministry said.
