The Indian Army has organised a two-month pre-training program for Agniveer aspirants, in North Kashmir’s Baramulla. Youths from the said area, and surrounding areas, are taking part in the program, before enrolling for the Agniveer scheme. Supreme Court of India stated that the pleas challenging centre's Agnipath scheme will be heard next week. The Agnipath scheme was introduced by the central government on June 14, which is a recruitment process for the Indian Armed Forces. After the passing of the scheme, the nation was divided with mixed responses. As of now, several cases have been filed challenging the scheme.

Indian Army published a notification on June 20 for Agniveer recruiting drive commencing from July, which is part of Agnipath short-term service plan. As a concession to appease the protesters, the Centre increased the maximum age limit for recruitment to 23 years for 2022.
