Farmers Receive Rs 19,500 Crore Under PM-KISAN Scheme: Govt
PM Modi deposited about Rs.19,500 crore under the PM-KISAN scheme to over 9.75 crore farmers and interacted with the recipients across the country virtually on August 9. So far, nine installments amounting to Rs 1.57 lakh crore have been transferred to the farmer families under the scheme, the government data revealed. The scheme was announced under the Union Budge of 2019 which has benefitted around 11 crore farmers.

'The Orange Revolution': A Technique To Benefit Farmers
CV Prakash, a Naval veteran through his remarkable and unique hydroponic farming technique found a way to grow turmeric that will be beneficial to farmers. Prakash devoted his lockdown free time to grow the Salem variety of turmeric at his 'CV Hydro training center' in Bengaluru. He has also trained over 12,000 people in hydroponic farming. "Whatever we harvested was 100% saleable material," claims Prakash.

Mumbai Students Introduces 'Hydroponic' Farming To Limit Plastic Use
To limit the use of plastic and soil in agriculture and to negate environmental crisis, ten management students from Universal Business School (UBS), Mumbai, initiated "Project Roop"- a project to upcycle plastic bottles and use them in "hydroponic" farming. Reportedly, India alone generates 4,059 tonne of plastic waste every day. Hydroponic is a horticulture process where plants are grown in nutrient-rich water than soil.

Delhi To Witness Another Farmers' Protest; Security Tightened
Delhi to witness farmers' protest at Jantar Mantar starting July 22 from 11 am to 5 pm amid the ongoing parliament Monsoon session. However, only 200 people have been allowed for demonstration and are required to strictly follow Covid-19 protocols. Farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh said, “Farmers will hold 'Kisan Sansad' at Parliament street. We will discuss the agrarian crisis, three farm laws, and MSP."

64% Of Global Arable Land At Pesticide Pollution Risk; Asia Worst Sufferer
A study published in Nature Geoscience has revealed that around 64% of the world’s total arable land is exposed to pesticide pollution. The report, assessing 168 countries, stated that one-third of the areas surveyed are at high risk of pollution caused by 92 chemicals used in pesticides. US Bans Pork Trade From India Over African Swine Fever

'Halal' Word Removed From 'Red Meat Manual' For Agri-export: APEDA
