Asaduddin Owaisi led AIMIM announced to contest the upcoming Karnataka and Rajasthan assembly elections. On March 2, the AIMIM President announced the same at a public meeting. The BJP MLA Raja Singh's hate remark against Prophet Muhammed created controversy. After the incident, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi took a dig against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said, "BJP hates Prophet Muhammad and Muslims. They want to destroy the social fabric of India." Owaisi also said, if the BJP wants to fight, they should do politically and shouldn't support, but react to such hate comments against religion.

Taking a dig at the "Gyanvapi Masjid" verdict, the AIMIM President Asauddin Owaisi said, the verdict is a violation of the Places of Worship Act 1991.  On May 12, he said expressed disappointment in the Varanasi Court's judgment which allowed the survey of the masjid. Owaisi said, he lost one Babri Masjid and can't lose another masjid, urging the concerned authority to take the matter to the Supreme Court.
