As the pollution intensifies in Delhi and NCR, room air purifier manufacturers reported a surge in their sales numbers. The poor air quality and fear due to the COVID-19 among people is likely to benefit the manufacturers in their sales. Reportedly, the current market for air purifiers is estimated to be around Rs 450-500 crores in India, in which, Delhi contributes around three-fourth of the sales.

What can be called as a relief for the residents of Delhi's Gandhi Nagar market, MP Gautam Gambhir on November 12 unveiled a 12-foot-tall air-purifier in the area. With capacity of generating 2 lakh cubic metre of clean air, the purifier will cover an area of 1000 square metres. "These air purifiers will have a major impact on people living nearby," said Gambhir. He also asked the government to ban firecrackers permanently.
