Air Quality Index In Mumbai Hits Its Best Score Of 10 For 2nd Time
Despite heavy rain, Mumbai's air quality index (AQI) reached its cleanest best of 10 for the second time on August 16. The lower the AQI number, the cleaner the air, whereas a higher AQI value implies more air pollution and health problems. Air Quality In Delhi Moves To Very Poor Category With 302 AQI
The air quality in Delhi on January 31 dropped into the 'very poor' category. The concerned department said, overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 302 in the morning, which worsened compared to "poor category" reported on January 30. Earlier on Sunday, Delhi has 282 AQI. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the minimum temperature in Delhi settled down to 8°C and the maximum is expected to touch 23°C.

Supreme Court Reviews Delhi Pollution, Directs To Comply With Centre's Guidelines
The Supreme Court (SC) on November 29, heard a plea regarding the rising pollution of Delhi. The court directed governments of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, to follow guidelines of the Air Quality Management and submit a report to the Court by December 2. The Apex Court also directed the states to handle Covid-19 situation, especially after Omicron fear and adjourned the matter to December 2.

Bengaluru Reports Increased Lung Diseases Following 'Diwali Pollution'
Many hospitals in Bengaluru have observed a rise in the number of patients suffering from respiratory diseases as the air quality has deteriorated since Diwali. Air Quality Index around Diwali jumped by 23% compared to the same time last year. The number of people suffering from lung diseases has increased by approximately 30%. System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) reported that the air quality in several regions of Delhi remained in the "severe category" with an overall air quality index (AQI) of 432 on November 8. People are recommended to refrain from participating in any outdoor physical activity. The AQI is still in the "severe" category, according to SAFAR, because of a huge input of stubble-related pollutants.

Delhi's Air Quality Drops To 'Poor', Likely To Decline Further To 'Very Poor'
Air quality in Delhi dropped from "moderate" to "poor" on October 28. According to the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), it is expected to fall into the "very poor" category by October 29. One of the primary causes of the critical situation is stubble burning. Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) was 232 around 4 p.m. on October 27, as per Central Pollution Control Board.
