The AQI of Delhi has slipped from the "moderate" category to "very poor", on January 14. According to SAFAR, the national capital's AQI is 312. On January 12, the AQI of Delhi slipped from the "satisfactory" category to "moderate" and from the last three days, it was in the "satisfactory category" from January 9 to January 11. Meanwhile, the Noida and Gurugram air quality remains in the "poor" category.

According to SAFAR, the national capital's AQI is 193. After a heavy rainfall, the city's air quality was "moderate" for the last three days. Meanwhile, the air quality of Noida has slipped to "poor" with an AQI of 211. Meanwhile, Gurugram slipped to the "moderate" category with an AQI of 105. 

The air quality of Kolkata has worsened to the "poor" category in environmental terms, on December 15. In some areas of the northern Kolkata, the air quality has worsened to the "very poor" category. The Dehradun administration announced that it would impose a fine of Rs 5,000 on burning plastic or garbage in the open areas, in order to improve the air quality. It has also been ordered by the District Magistrate to the Municipal Corporations and concerned authorities to make challan against those who don't follow the rules. "I've directed for strict action," R Rajesh Kumar, District Magistrate, told to ANI.

Amid the reports of decreasing air quality in Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, there is good news that there are many cities in India where people breathe the cleanest air. Mizoram's Aizawal tops the list with AQI of 13, followed by Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore (22), Andhra Pradesh's Amaravati (23), placing them in the good category. Karnataka's Davangere secured the fourth spot with an AQI of 24.
