Minor’s Mortal Remains Found After Going Missing In River: Kerala

The mortal remains of a 11-year-old boy who went missing in a river of village Thirupperunthura, has been recovered by a diving team under Southern Naval Command in Kochi on September 11. Following the incident, a diving request was received from Alapuzha’s district collector on September 10. The body of the boy has been recovered and handed over to the district authorities.

Playback Singer Edava Basheer Collapses While Performing, Passes Away: Kerala

Veteran playback singer Edava Basheer (78) has passed away after collapsing on stage in Kerala's Alappuzha, on May 29. Basheer was performing at the golden jubilee celebrations of the Blue Diamond's orchestra, when he collapsed. Reportedly, Basheer was immediately rushed to a hospital, but he was not able to be saved. Internet is flooded with grievances and heartfelt messages following his demise.

Minor Boy Chants Provocative Slogans, 2 PFI Leaders Booked: Kerala

A case has been registered against Popular Front of India (PFI) Alappuzha district president Nawas Vandanam and district Secretary Mujeeb, after a video of a boy chanting provocative slogans surfaced, on May 24. Reportedly, the incident occurred during a PFI march in Kerala, where the minor was seen chanting slogans against Hindus and Christians in the state. Kerala Police Arrests 2 More SDPI Workers Under BJP Leader's Murder Case

The Kerala police, on December 28 arrested two more SPDI workers, accused of Ranjith Sreenivasan's murder, the Secretary of BJP's OBC Morcha in Alappuzha. Till now seven people have been arrested, in Ranjith's murder. On December 19, Ranjith was murdered and a day earlier on December 18, SDPI state secretary KS Shaan was attacked by a car when he was on a two-wheeler.

Section 144 Imposed In Kerala's Alappuzha After BJP Leader Dies

Following the brutal murder of BJP's OBC Morcha secretary Ranjith Sreenivasan, section 144 was imposed in Kerala's Alappuzha district on December 19. Reportedly, some miscreants hacked him to death at his home. The incident happened after the death of KS Shan, the state secretary of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) here. Shan had received serious injuries after a car rammed into his bike on December 18.

Bird Flu Cases Found In Kerala's 2 Districts; 80K Birds To Be Culled

In Vechoor, Kallara, and Aymanam of Kerala's Kottayam district and Alappuzha district's Nedumudy and Karuvatta, the cases of bird flu or H5N1 virus were confirmed, reported UNI on December 15. Reportedly, about 80,000 birds in a km radius of the locations will be culled to prevent the virus' spread. However, the authorities announced a compensation of ₹100 and ₹200 each for ducks below 60 days and above 60 days, respectively.

Bird Flu Cases Confirmed In Kerala's Alappuzha District

In the Thakazhi gram panchayat of Kerala's Alappuzha district, cases of bird flu were reported on December 9. The area has been declared a containment zone.
