Mexican Mayor Marries Alligator To Ensure Abundance In Centuries-Old Tradition

In line with an old tradition for assuring abundance, the mayor of a small Mexican town wed a seven-year-old alligator on June 30. "We ask nature for enough rain, for enough food, that we have fish in the river," said Mayor Victor Hugo Sosa. The reptile is said to be a divinity symbolizing mother earth, and her marriage to the local chief represents the union of people and the divine.

US Fishermen Capture A Rare Black Melanistic Alligator Gar In Texas

Justin Jordan and Terrell Maguire of United States captured a rare melanistic alligator gar in Texas. The jet-black beast was roughly 5-feet tall and could reach "enormous lengths." Mr. Jordan posted images of the beast to social media, with some calling it a “creature from alien." They are rare and endangered, and their hue is generally dark green or olive. They can only be found in North and Central America.

Alligator-like Fish Found In Singapore; Experts Baffled

In an unusual event, a British expat in Singapore has recently found a 'prehistoric' creature that resembles a mix of an alligator and a fish. The creature, found in Singapore's MacRitchie Reservoir, had the head of an alligator and a fish's body. Reportedly, it was identified as an alligator jar, a native to the southern United States.
