Tiger Attacks 2 Bikers In Uttarakhand, Drags 1 Into Deep Forest
In Uttarakhand's Almora district, a tiger allegedly attacked two bikers, and dragged one of them into deep forest near Corbett Tiger Reserve, informed Forest officials on July 17. Afsarul (25), who was returning home with his friend, fell victim to the tiger, which waited patiently inside the bushes. Soon after the incidents, officials rushed to the spot and initiated a search. Reportedly, traces of Afsarul's blood has been found.

India Gets Its 1st Grass Conservatory In Uttarkhand's Ranikhet
India's first grass conservatory was inaugurated at Ranikhet in Uttarakhand's Almora district on November 14. Erratic Forest Fires Hit Uttarakhand; Severe Heat, Negligible Rainfall To Blame
Uttarakhand has observed erratic forest fires in Almora and Chakrata areas. Reportedly, more than 10 hectares of forest land at both the places has been ravaged due to the severe heat and negligible rainfall. However, no loss of human life or wildlife has been reported. Chakrata's Divisional Forest Officer Deep Chand Arya stated, "Thanks to the dry grass floor, even the smallest spark could ignite a raging fire."
