Pilgrim Dies During Amarnath Yatra, Slips In 300 Meter Deep Gorge

The pilgrimage Amarnath Yatra turned tragic for 50-year-old Vijay Kumar Shah. On August 18 night, while returning from the holy Amarnath cave, Vijay slipped to a 300-meter-deep down, resulting in his death. He was rescued by the Indian Army but was found dead, confirmed the J&K police.  Notably, Vijay Kumar Shah was from Tumba village in Rohtas District, Bihar and was on a pilgrimage yatra with one Mamta Kumari.

Amarnath Yatra Resumes After Weather Improved

After days of suspension, the Jammu and Kashmir authority resumes the Amarnath Yatra, giving relief to the stranded pilgrims. The decision to lift the restrictions amid the improved weather in the Pahalgam. In addition, Those pilgrims, who had already performed the Amarnath Yatra but were stranded between the cave shrine and the two base camps have also been allowed to move down, confirmed sources.

Bad Weather Leads To Temporary Suspension Of Amarnath Yatra

Amarnath Temple Committee has suspended the pilgrim yatra, amid bad weather on July 7. The Jammu & Kashmir authority decided to halt the religious yatra, as the region witnessed heavy to very heavy rainfall. "The yatra was temporarily suspended in the morning and no pilgrim was allowed to move towards the cave." A total of 7,200 pilgrims have been halted in regions of Jammu & Kashmir.

Amarnath Yatra To Lord Shiva Shrine To Begin Soon, Dates Awaited

 Shrine Board at Raj Bhawan will hold a meeting to decide the dates of the annual Amarnath Yatra, 2023. As per sources, the final dates to the shrine of lord Shiva in Amarnath is something which devotees wait for eagerly. The 45-day pilgrimage yatra takes place usually in the month of July-August, marked as the holy month of "Shravan." The yatra begins with Pratham pujan, or the first prayer.

Patients In J&K Applaud New DRDO Hospital Built In Anticipation Of Amarnath Yatra

Patients commended the government for creating a new Defense Research and Development Organization Hospital at Baltal base camp in Sonamarg, Jammu & Kashmir. It sought to give pilgrims and those involved in Amarnath Yatra health treatment. The government had previously built a hospital at Baltal base camp a few years ago, but its capacity was constrained and it was not equipped to care for all patients during the Amarnath Yatra.

Officials Suspend Amarnath Yatra Temporarily, Pilgrims Waits At Camps

Amid heavy rainfall and cloudbursts, Kashmir valley is witnessing bad weather, following which the concerned authority has suspended the 2022 Amarnath Yatra. On July 14, the yatra was temporarily suspended from Pahalgam as well as Baltal routes and no pilgrim was allowed to move toward the holy cave shrine. Earlier, the yatra was stopped on July 8, amid cloudburst, and resumed on July 11.

Amarnath Yatra Recommences, Devotees Brimming With Enthusiasm

Amarnath Yatra, which was temporarily halted due to a cloudburst, recommenced on July 11 from the Nunwan Pahalgam side, according to Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. A new group of Amarnath devotees has begun to depart from the Jammu base camp. "We are filled with energy and will not go back without the 'darshan' of Baba. CRPF and other personnel have guided us to move ahead safely," said the devotees.

Pilgrims Waits For Amarnath Yatra To Resume, Suspended Amid Cloudburst

After the cloudburst incident, the authority suspended the Amarnath yatra temporarily.  Amid the suspended yatra, many pilgrims are waiting at Baltal Base camp for it to recommence. Furthermore, the route of the Amarnath Yatra, in Jammu and Kashmir is also damaged and the repair work to resume the yatra is underway. Meanwhile, amid the cloudburst incident, 16 yatris died and rescue work for other stranded yatris is underway.

Cloudburst Incident In Amarnath Yatra Leaves 15 Dead & 65 Injured; Foot Yatra Suspended Temporarily

Near the holy shrine of Amarnath, at least 15 people died in the cloudburst incident, on July 8, reported Indian Army. Following the incident, foot yatra has temporarily been suspended. Meanwhile, over 65 persons have been injured in the cloudburst. Indian Army's Mi-17 choppers were deployed from Srinagar to Amarnath cave site, to join the rescue operations.
