Amazon India Shortlists 16 Brands In Initiative To Help Local Start-Ups: AGSP
Out of 1000 start-ups that applied, from over 150 cities in India, 16 have been selected as finalists for Amazon's second season of Global Selling Propel Accelerator (AGSP), on April 14. The idea of the aforesaid initiative by Amazon India, is to provide a much needed support to emerging start-ups in India. The shortlisted companies will reportedly stand a chance to win $100,000 total equity free grant from Amazon.

E-commerce giant, Amazon India, on April 12 announced to bear the COVID-19 vaccination expenses of all its employees. Amazon Brings 50,000 Small Sellers Under Its Hyperlocal Programme
Amazon has brought 50,000 small-scale shops under its flagship hyperlocal programme in less than a year. Eying at catering for the requirements of the nearby customers, the programme saw the participation of retailers from around 450 cities. Besides, Tier-II and Tier-III cities, including Sangli, Osmanabad, Jamnagar, and Tumkur, have made it to the names. Reportedly, over 20,000 retailers participated in the Great Indian Festival 2020.

Amazon, Flipkart Warned For Not Revealing Product's Manufacturing Origin
The Consumer Affairs Ministry has warned the e-commerce giants - Amazon India and Flipkart - for the sellers not mentioning the product’s manufacturing country. Country of Origin on Products to be Displayed on Amazon and Flipkart
The country of origin for the products marketed by the sellers on Amazon and Flipkart will now be listed as per government orders. The companies have asked the vendors to mention the country of origin, under the provisions of the Legal Metrology Act of 2009. However, questions have surfaced as to whether the country of origin of the marketplace should be listed or the wholesaler's.
