Asian Boxing C'ship: India's Amit Panghal, Shiva Thapa Enter Finals
India has definitely secured a sliver medal at the Asian Boxing Championship as boxer Amit Panghal (52kg) stormed into the final after defeating Kazakhstan's Saken Bibossinov on May 28. Panghal will now face Rio Olympic champion Zoirov Shakhobidin for the gold medal on May 31. Boxing: Amit Panghal Settles For Bronze At Governor's Cup In Russia
In the Governor's Cup played in Russia, Indian Boxer Amit Panghal settled with a bronze medal after suffering a defeat in the semi-finals. Playing under 52 kg category, the 23-year-old boxer from Haryana lost to Uzbek’s Shakhobidin Zoirov by 5-0. Earlier shortlisted for Tokyo Olympics, Amit will represent India in the Tokyo Olympics in July-August 2021. Notably, Panghal is the only Indian to secure a medal at tournament.
