On the occasion of 38th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, in Amritsar's Golden Temple, supporters of radical Sikh outfits were seen raising pro-Khalistani slogans, on June 6. Skeletons Of 282 Indian Soldiers From India's First War Of Independence In 1857 Found
Punjab University's Assistant professor in Department of Anthropology Dr JS Sehrawat, on May 11, said that skeletons of 282 Indian soldiers have been found during the excavation near Amritsar. Reportedly, the skeletons belong to the soldiers who participated in India's First War of Independence, in 1857. "These soldiers were revolting against the use of pork and beef greased cartridges," said professor Sehrawat.

Chief Justice of India NV Ramana with his family, visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar, on April 14. Marking the occasion of Baisakhi, Ramana said, "My good wishes for Baisakhi. After a massive win in Punjab with 92 assembly seats, Punjab CM candidate Bhagwant Mann said AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will visit Amritsar to take part in the roadshow on March 13. The roadshow is organised to express gratitude to voters, who voted for AAP in the 2022 Punjab elections. "We will take the blessings of Guru Sahib to fulfill promises we made to the people of Punjab," said Mann.

Conjoined Twins Cast Votes As 2 Individuals: Punjab Assembly Elections
Conjoined twins cast two votes at Amritsar polling booth in Punjab Assembly elections, on February 20. The twins were given dark goggles to maintain secrecy. In a unique case, the EC confirmed that the votes would be counted as two, and to be fair, the EC officers stationed at polling booth 101, Manwal area videographed the voting process. Notably, Sohna and Mohna are conjoined twins from Amritsar, Punjab.

125 Passengers Of Flight From Italy-Amritsar Test COVID-19 Positive
At least 125 passengers of a chartered from Italy, tested COVID-19 positive, on January 6. Flight landed at Amritsar, at 1:30 pm from Milan. Of the total 179 passengers, 125 tested positive, as Italy is said to be high risk countries for COVID-19 and its new variant Omicron. Furthermore, all the positive patients will be sent for institutional quarantine in Amritsar. Notably, flight was operated by EuroAtlantic Airways.

After Amritsar, Kapurthala Reports Alleged Sacrilege Incident: Punjab
In Nizampur village of Kapurthala district, an incident of sacrilege was reported on December 19. A video went viral in which a young man tried to sabotage Nishan Sahib from the Gurudwara and was caught by the villagers. He was beaten up a lot, following which handed over to the police. This was second such incident, on December 18, a similar incident was reported at Golden Temple, in Amritsar.

Pakistan Denies Entry To 46 Citizens To Contain COVID-19 Spread
Pakistan government denied entry to its 46 nationals from the Attari-Wagah, including 23 children, for not having a ''proper COVID report''. Reportedly, the nationals visited shrines in Amritsar a year ago but got stuck due to the ''COVID Induced lockdown''. A Pakistan national, Wazir said, ''We got tested on August 23 but the Pakistan govt didn't approve.'' After undergoing new COVID-19 tests, they will be sent back on August 26.

Felt Like 'Maharaja' In A Lone Flight But Will Not Travel Again
In what appears to be a unique incident, a passenger SP Singh Oberoi flew from Amritsar to Dubai with no co-passenger in the Air India flight on June 23. Although Oberoi mentioned he felt like a 'Maharaja', he may refuse the solo next time as it was very boring. Meanwhile, being the solo passenger, he spent time taking pictures, counting the seats and windows in the empty plane.
