Jammu & Kashmir: Encounter Continues For 48 Hours, 3 Soldiers Killed, 1 Missing

A soldier has reportedly gone missing while two others were injured in an encounter with terrorists that is underway for over 48 hours in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. The gunfight broke out early on September 13 after the army and the police launched a joint operation to hunt down terrorists in the dense forests of Kokernag. Meanwhile, the encounter is underway and casualties from terrorists are unknown.

Jammu & Kashmir: 2 Terrorists Killed In Encounter In Anantnag Region

In another encounter, two terrorists were killed in the Anantnag region, Jammu & Kashmir.  On October 10, a gunfight broke out between the Jammu & Kashmir security forces and militants, after the information that some are hiding in the region. Upon receiving the input, the police cordoned off the area and launch the operation. Moreover, the encounter is underway and more details are awaited.

Kashmir Valley Reports Flood Like Situation Amid Continuous Rainfall

Heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir could lead to flood-like situation in the Kashmir valleys, as most of the water bodies are having rise in water level. On June 22, the concerned authorities said, after the continuous rainfall for the past four days Jhelum river crossed the flood alarm mark at Sangam in Anantnag. In regard to this, the authorities started moving people from low-lying areas to safer locations.

1 Killed In Accident At Banihal, Around Dozen Others Injured: J&K

In a tragic accident, one person was killed while around a dozen others were injured in an accident at 'Navyug Tunnel' in Jammu and Kashmir's Banihal area. A tourist bus bearing registration number JK02AT-6530 collided with another vehicle inside a tunnel, resulting in death of a person and injuries to around eleven others. Among the injured persons, three have been shifted to Anantnag, while others are undergoing treatment at Banihal.

2 Pakistani Among 6 Terrorists Killed: J&K Encounters

Jammu and Kashmir police on December 30 said that six terrorists were killed in two separate encounters that took place in Anantnag and Kulgam districts. Out of the six dead, two are reported to be Pakistani and two local terrorists, while the identity of the rest is yet not clear. ''Six terrorists of proscribed terror outfit JeM killed...A big success for us,'' said Vijya Kumar, IGP, Kashmir.

1 Militant Shot Dead In Search Operation Turned Gunfight: J&K

A search operation turned gunfight broke out in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, on December 24. As per sources, the search operation is underway, and is being conducted jointly by J&K police, Army and CRPF. "So far, one unidentified militant has been killed," said police. On December 22, an Assistant Sub-inspector of the J&K police was shot dead by terrorists in the Anantnag district.

3 Militants Killed In An Encounter With Security Forces In J&K

The security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district killed three militants in an encounter on May 11. Reportedly, following a tip-off of militant’s presence the forces initiated a search operation at Vailoo in the Komernag area of district. Soon the search operation was turned into a fierce encounter as the militants opened fire on forces. Retaliating, the security forces gunned down three militants while the encounter continued.
