Good News For AP As Centre Approves Rs 12,911 Crores Funding

In a major development for Andhra Pradesh, the Central Government approved Rs 12,911 crores as additional funding to the State Government. The decision was taken by the Union Finance Ministry, after a meeting held between the Jal Shakti Department officials. The major announcement came as a boon to the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP Government, which was demanding funding for the construction of the Polavaram Project.

AP Govt Plans To Construct Ropeway At Gandikota Village, Promote Tourism

Andhra Pradesh's Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao on December 10, announced that the state will improve the tourism infrastructure and construct a ropeway at Gandikota Village. An estimated cost for the project is Rs 4.5 crores. "The social infrastructure will also be developed at Borra Caves and cottage to be constructed at Maredumilli," he added. Temporary toilets and restaurants will be constructed at Lambasingi for tourists.

AP's Govt Identifies 4,033 Child Orphaned Due To Covid-19

In a step to ensure free education to orphaned children due to COVID-19, the Andhra Pradesh Education Department has submitted its list on August 19, identifying 4,033 children who lost their parents to Covid-19. Among the 4,033 children, 2150 are from private schools, 1,659 belong to government schools and 524 are infants. Notably, Supreme Court had already given directions to ensure free education to such children.
