Top Indian Designers Vow To Make Leather-Free Products
Considering World Fashion Day celebrated on August 21, India's top 32 fashion designers have claimed that they will eliminate the use of leather in their products and in other materials. The designers featuring the initiative are Gaurav Gupta, Masaba Gupta, and others. The move comes after they were asked to do so by the PETA India and Lakme Fashion Week with an aim to prevent environmental and ethical treatment of animals.

Olympics: PETA Writes To IOC, Calls For Removal Of Equestrian Events
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have advised the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the termination of equestrian games in the future events of the Olympics. South Africa: Rhino Killings On The Rise After Lockdown Curbs Ease
South Africa habitats about 20,000 white Rhinos accounting for 90% of the world's Rhino population. The animal is poached for horn trading and the relaxation of the lockdown restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic last year was not good news for Rhinos living in South Africa. The cases of illegal poaching rose sharply. At least 249 Rhinos were killed until June 2021, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment said.

World Celebrates International Tiger Day; India Now Has 3,000 Wild Cats
To raise awareness about the big wild cats, Global Tiger Day is celebrated on July 29 every year. Reportedly, the "total population of tigers around the world is known to be at 3,900". India alone has around 3,000 wild tigers. However, due to illegal wildlife trade and poaching the ratio of tigers dropped 95% in the last 150 years but it is on the rise since 2018.

5 Circuses' Registrations Cancelled Over Animal Rights Violations
Citing animal rights violations, the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has scrapped the registration of five Indian circuses - Ahmedabad's Great Golden, Kanpur's Asiad and Rayman, Delhi's Apollo and Kolkata's Nataraj.
