Odisha Police Arrest Two Persons For Trying To Sell Chameleon
In Odisha’s Bhubaneswar, two persons have been arrested for allegedly trying to sell a chameleon, on August 29. Reportedly, the accused were trying to sell the animal for Rs 1.50 lakh, before getting nabbed by forest officers, who were posing as buyers. The accused have been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Das and Khiroad Mohanty. According to Schedule 2 of the Wild Life Protection Act, smuggling of chameleon is illegal.

Nine Exotic Wild Animals Rescued While Being Smuggled Into Assam From Mizoram
The Mizoram police in Vairengte, rescued nine exotic wild animals from smugglers, which they attempted to smuggle them from Mizoram to Assam, on August 24. Two persons identified as John Lalramnghaka (39) and Lalremruata (20) have been arrested by the police. Notably in May, Mizoram police rescued 468 smuggled exotic wild animals from the Champhai district bordering Myanmar, reported Hindustan Times.
