Texas: 18,000 Cattles Killed In A Fire Incident At Dairy Farm

A "horrific" explosion and fire at a dairy farm in the southern US state of Texas killed about 18,000 head of cattle and injured one agricultural worker in Texas. This was the deadliest barn fire for cattle in Texas history and the investigation and cleanup may take some time," Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller said in a statement. Furthermore, The explosion and fire ripped through the Southfork Dairy Farms.

BMC Takes Serious Note Of Lumpy Skin Disease Amongst Cattles

Amid the spread of lumpy skin disease in cattle, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) adopted precautionary measures for animals. Notably, the BMC teams consisting of officers and employees will start visiting various cattle sheds in Mumbai, and issuing notices to cattle shed owners. The BCM officials will also see if cattle sheds are unclean and provide medical treatment to the animals found infected with the diseases.

Around 53 out of 163 animals and birds that were brought from different states and foreign countries died inside the Kevadia jungle safari, in Gujarat. In addition, around Rs 5.47 crore were spent in three years on buying these animals and birds. Notably, around 8.37 lakh people visited the Kevadia jungle safari and an income of over Rs 15.73 crore was generated in 2020 and 2021.

13 Animals Die Due To Flood In Assam's Kaziranga Park 

As per the Assam government, Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve have recorded 13 deaths due to floods that include 9 Hog deer, two swamp Deer, one python, and a Cap Langur. Meanwhile, three animals were also rescued. Reportedly, the Flood has impacted 950 villages in 21 districts of Assam, and the water level at Nimatighat, Dhansirimukh, and Tezpur are still a threat to people's lives.

US Reports First SARS-CoV-2 Case In Deer

The US Department of Agriculture reported SARS-CoV-2's first case in wild white-tailed deer. "We do not know how the deer were exposed to SARS-CoV-2. It’s possible they were exposed through people, the environment, other deer, or another animal species," said Lyndsay Cole, the spokesperson of USDA. The previous month, USDA reported that white-tailed deer in Illinois, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania got infected with SARS-CoV-2.

Zhi Xiang, a 51-year-old Buddhist monk has rescued over 1000 animals in and around Shanghai, by taking care of them at his monastery. Xiang's crusade started with rescuing cats hit by cars on the streets of Shanghai. Soon enough, he began taking in dogs and other stray animals as well. At his monastery, Xiang has over 8000 animals who have been rescued and rehabilitated by him.
