AR Rahman Slaps Fine Of Rs 10 Crores On Association Of Surgeons

AR Rahman made headlines in September after his Chennai concert was slammed for mismanagement. Weeks after the mishap, he found himself in the midst of yet another controversy. Association of Surgeons of India registered a complaint against Rahman alleging that he received a sum of Rs 29 lakh for a concert and never conducted one. Now, AR Rahman's counsel has responded by denying all the allegations.

AR Rahman Concert In Chennai Witnessed Stampede Like Situation

Music maverick AR Rahman held a concert titled 'Marakuma Nenjam' at Adityaram Palace in Chennai's Paniyur on Sunday. As per reports, around 50,000 people attended the concert, but many took to social media and slammed the Oscar-award-winning composer for poor organisation. There were claims that women were violated, children were separated from their folks, and several were unable to attend despite tickets.

BAFTA Announces AR Rahman As Ambassador For 'Breakthrough Initiative'

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ (BAFTA) on November 30 announced AR Rahman as ambassador for its 'Breakthrough Initiative'. The initiative will enable the academy to identify and nurture up to five talents working in film, games, or television in India. Applications are now open for BAFTA Breakthrough India, which is supported by Netflix. Rahman said he is thrilled to be a part of the talent hunt.

Madras High Court Issues Notice to AR Rahman for Evading Tax

Music composer AR Rahman on September 11 has received a notice from the Madras High Court for evading income tax on Rs 3.47 crore for the year 2011-12. The Income Tax department has alleged that Rahman diverted his remuneration of Rs 3.47 crore to his charitable trust instead of his own account. Reportedly, the sum was paid to Rahman for composing ringtones for a UK-based telecom company.
