Navy Helicopter Have Emergency Landing Near Arabian Sea, Crew Member Rescued
A navy helicopter ditched off the Mumbai coast due to a technical snag, on March 8. The Indian Navy helicopter ditched close to the coast near the Arabian Sea. Furthermore, the flight was on a routine sortie; three crew members were rescued by naval patrol craft after immediate search and rescue. A probe to investigate the incident has been ordered. Helicopter With 7 Passengers, 2 Pilot Crashed, Rescue Operation Underway
In breaking news, a helicopter with seven passengers and two pilots crashed in the Arabian Sea, near an ONGC rig, in Mumbai. The incident happened on June 28, afternoon, following which a rescue team rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation. 3 More Arrested In Rs 280 Cr Heroin Seizure Case
Three more people including two Afghan nationals were arrested by Gujarat ATS and Indian Coast Guard for alleged connection with the seizure of Heroin worth Rs 280 crore. The drugs were earlier seized from a boat in the Arabian sea in April, and around nine Pakistani nationals were detained. The three arrested accused include Khari Hamidullah, Mohammad Hakim and Azim Ahmed.

India & France Begin 5-Day Naval Wargame In Arabian Sea: Varuna Exercise
India and France began their five-day mega naval exercise in the Arabian sea, on March 31. The excercise is carried out annually, and this is the 20th edition of 'Varuna' exercise. P305 Barge Accident: Mumbai Police Books Captain; Navy Informs 51 Dead
The Mumbai’s Yellow Gate Police on May 21 filed an FIR against the captain of the wrecked P305 Barge on the complaint of P305 engineer. The report says that the captain proceeded further despite several warnings on Cyclone Tauktae. The Mumbai police said that few more will be arrested following the investigation. Reportedly, a Navy spokesperson stated that 51 bodies were found with 27 crew members still missing.

NDRF Deploys 24 Teams Along S-W Coast Ahead Of Cyclone 'Tauktae'
The National Disaster Response Force on May 14 precautionary deployed 24 teams ahead of an anticipated cyclone Tauktae from the Arabian Sea. First cyclone of 2021, Tauktae is expected to landfall on May 15 with forecasts of heavy downpours across parts of the western coast for the next 4-5 days. According to India Meteorological Department, the cyclone will reach northwestwards of Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan coasts by May 18.

Cyclone Tauktae Likely To Hit Gujarat On May 17; Low Pressure Intensifies
Gujarat is predicted to face 'Tauktae' cyclone in the next 10 days due to low pressure formation in the Arabian Sea. Progressing towards Oman or Pakistan, the European Ensemble Prediction System (EPS) forecasted that Tauktae will make a landfall at Gujarat coast by May 17. Indian Meteorological Department’s DG M Mohapatra said IMD is tracking the situation and will issue directions accordingly for the probably first cyclone of 2021.
