Archana Mahanta

Assamese folk singer and mother of Bollywood singer Papon, Archana Mahanta (72), passed away at a private hospital on August 27, due to a brain stroke. The last rituals were held at Nabagraha crematorium with the presence of senior officials from the state government. The Assam CM, Sarbananda Sonowal offered condolences and sympathy to the late singer's family and called her "a shining star".
