Army Rifleman Shoots Himself Dead In J&K
Rifleman Yogesh Kumar, on duty in the Indian Army, has shot himself dead at Kullian camp in Miran Sahib area. Kumar, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, died on the spot, and was later taken to a hospital for post-mortem. The incident occured in the outskirts of the city. Am investigation into the matter is underway, and further details are awaited.

31 Kg Of Narcotics Recovered Near LoC: Jammu & Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir Defence Spokesperson Col Devender Anand, on January 21, confirmed to recover 31 kgs of narcotics. Notably, during a search operation on January 19-20, based on intelligence input, the Union Territory (UT) police and army launched an operation in poonch region and recovered 31 kgs of narcotics near Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir.

Army Rescues 14 Civilians In Twin Avalanches At Kupwara Kashmir
Indian Army in Kashmir reportedly rescued 14 civilians on January 18 in Kupwara district, after avalanches hit highway. The twin avalanches were triggered by snow in the morning, due to which Tangdhar-Chowkibal highway got blocked, and 14 civilians were stranded. India-Pakistan Armies Exchange Sweets On New Year: Jammu & Kashmir
India-Pakistan armies exchanged sweets, on January 1, New Year, along the Line of Control (LoC) at Poonch and Mendhar crossing points in Jammu & Kashmir. "Considering the ongoing ceasefire along India-Pak border, this gesture is aimed at further enhancing peace and harmony in J&K," a statement reads. Notably, both the armies had announced to adhere to the ceasefire across the LoC, in February 2021.

Army, Police Help To Rescue 1-Year-Old From Borewell: MP
The Chhatarpur district administration of Madhya Pradesh rescued a one-year-old child from a 15 feet borewell with the help of the Police and Army on December 17. The infant fell into the borewell while playing with other kids in the afternoon of December 16, said Ramsakhi Kushwaha, the child's mother. However, the rescue operation started at 4 PM and ended at 12:30 AM. The child is said to be stable.

Terrorist Dies In Encounter Between Security Forces-Militant In Poonch: J&K
On December 14, a terrorist was killed in an encounter between the Indian Army and militants. Broke out in the Behramgala region of Poonch district, the encounter was based on an intelligence input of the of militants in the region. The security officials cordoned off the area and started search operation. However, they recovered one AK-47 rifle, four magazines and pouches by the troops, confirmed the authority.

Here's Everything About Madhulika Rawat, Wife Of CDS Bipin Rawat
Madhulika Rawat, wife of General Bipin Rawat passed away in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu, along with her husband. She was the president of the Army Wives Welfare Association, while engaging regularly in social services. Furthermore, she studied psychology at Delhi University, and later got married to Bipin Rawat when he was a captain in the army. They are now survived by two daughters.

Defence Ministry Asks Forces To Submit Theatre Command Studies By April 2022
Ministry of Defence asked the three services to conduct studies for the creation of theatre commands and submit their report by April 2022. Reportedly, the "creation of theatre" command has been envisaged by the government to enhance jointness among forces and fight a war in an integrated manner. The decision was taken following a high-level meeting by the Chief of Defence Bipin Rawat and the three services chiefs.

Kuwait Allows Women To Take Part In Military Services
In a step to empower women in the country, Kuwait allowed women to join the National Military Services on October 12. However, women will initially serve in the field of medical and military support. ''Kuwaiti women have proven their achievements in several fields,'' said Kuwait's Deputy PM and Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah. Earlier in 2008, Kuwait allowed women to join the police.

Mehbooba Mufti Claims Army Put Her Under House Arrest In J&K
Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the People's Democratic Party claimed that the security forces have barred her from visiting a family and placed her under house arrest in Jammu and Kashmir on September 29. She alleged that the Army even blocked the main gate of her residence on Gupkar road. Reportedly, Mufti wanted to visit a family in the Pulwama's Tral town who was allegedly thrashed by Army personnel.
