During an infiltration attempt in J&K's Poonch region, the security forces killed at least one terrorist. Lieutenant-colonel Devender Anand said that the soldiers who were on alert detected infiltration, using an integrated surveillance grid. "This action by alert Army troops displays resolve of Indian Army to thwart any misadventure along the Line of Control," he added. However, the operation is being investigated.

In a very tragic incident at Pilibhit in UP, police have brutalised an ex-Army man, thrashed his mother and sisters for not having proper documents. The incident happened on May 3 when Resham Singh, the army man, was traveling to Lakhimpur to attend a funeral with his mother and sisters. Recognizing the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans, the Pentagon selected audiologist Deepa for this year.
