TRP Scam: Police Reveals Republic Chief Arnab Bribed Ex-BARC CEO
The Mumbai Police said that Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami had bribed “lakhs of rupees” to the ex-CEO of BARC Partho Dasgupta to increase the TRP of his channel. Reportedly, this was the first time Arnab's name has been surfaced officially in the scam. Police informed that Dasgupta had bought expensive goodies with the bribed amount. They added that the transactions were mostly through cash and once with US Dollars.

UK Slaps Rs 20 Lakh Fine On Republic Bharat Over "Hate Speech"
Ofcom, the UK's broadcasting regulator, has fined Republic Bharat with Rs 20 lakh for spreading hatred towards Pakistanis. The regulator on December 22 imposed fine on Worldview Media Network Limited which holds the license for airing the channel in the UK. Apex Sends Notice To Kunal, Rachita Over Alleged Defamation
Comedian Kunal Kamra and Cartoonist Rachita Taneja have received show-cause notices from the Supreme Court for allegedly defaming the apex judiciary. The issue arose when Kunal, in a series of tweets, had criticized the apex court, Chief Justice SA Bobde, and Justice Chandrachud for granting bail to Arnab Goswami and had alleged partiality. In addition to it, Cartoonist Rachita had called the apex court ‘Sanghi Court of India’.

Arnab Withdraws Anticipatory Bail On Assaulting Woman Police Case
As a surprising move, Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami has asked his counsel to withdraw an anticipatory bail plea sought by him vis-à-vis alleged assaulting of a woman police officer. Reportedly, a case had been registered against him at N M Joshi Marg police station for the alleged assault in November. Reportedly, Arnab has been charged under IPC section 353, IPC 504, and under the Damage to Public Property Act.

Supreme Court Grants Bail to Arnab, Questions Bombay HC on Bail Rejection
For a three-year-old suicide abetment case, Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami was granted bail by the Supreme Court on November 11. The SC expressed unhappiness towards the Bombay High Court's bail rejection and noted that the lower court made a mistake. Justice DY Chandrachud said, "If a person commits suicide in Maharashtra & blames govt, will CM be arrested?" He further urged the proximity test to prove the allegation.

Arnab Moves To Supreme Court Against Bombay HC Bail Denial
After the Bombay High Court rejected Arnab Goswami's bail plea, the Republic TV chief moved to the Supreme Court on November 10, challenging the HC's decision. However, earlier the Bombay High Court had asked Arnab to move to the lower court to seek the alternative remedy available to petitioners. Arnab has been arrested for the 2018 abetment to suicide case.The High Court bench said that no case was made under extraordinary jurisdiction.

Bombay HC Rejects Arnab Goswami’s Interim Bail Plea, Will Remain In Jail
Journalist Arnab Goswami’s bail plea was rejected by the Bombay High Court on November 9 and he will remain in custody. The Republic TV chief, along with two others - Feroze Shaikh and Nitish Sarda is in jail for the 2018 abetment to suicide case of interior-designer Anvay Naik and his mother. Currently, the journalist is in Taloja jail where he was shifted to on November 8 for allegedly using phone in custody.
