In a latest development in the Kolkata coal smuggling case, TMC MLA Saokat Molla has been summoned by CBI for investigation. CBI has asked Molla to bring documents related to bank transactions, passbooks, passport, identify proofs and other documents related to his business. For the last 48 hours, the Asansol district has received heavy rainfall resulting in waterlogging and created a flood-like situation on September 30. In many areas, rainwater has reached six to eight feet height and has entered the houses of people which led them to move to the terrace of their buildings. IMD has stated that Odisha, West Bengal, and Gujarat may receive heavy rainfall in the coming days.

West Bengal's BJP MP and former Union Minister Babul Supriyo have decided to exit from politics on July 31. On Facebook, Supriyo posted, ''Goodbye. I have listened to everyone my parents, wife, daughter. And after listening to them I can tell you goodbye.'' However, he also clarified that one need not be a politician to undertake social services. Besides, he expressed he had differences with BJP leaders.
