West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's younger brother Ashim Banerjee has passed away due to COVID-19 on May 15. Dr Alok Roy, the chairman of Medica Superspeciality Hospital in Kolkata, confirmed the news informing that CM Mamata's brother was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 for last few days. Meanwhile, West Bengal recorded the highest single-day spike of 20,846 fresh COVID-19 cases on May 14, along with 136 deaths on the same day.
